Right now we're in the midst of some trouble at school. I mentioned it in my last post but it seems to have gone up a notch or two, or a thousand. Alex has been sick in the mornings and he's punched not one but two children in the past two days. And he's beside himself with worry. Over what, I don't know. I get his teacher being gone is a stressor but I'm of the opinion that something else is going on. I'm worried sick about him and have pulled him from school yesterday and today as I feel the situation warrants it. It's that bad.
I think I've come into my own with this Autism thing. Never in a million years would I have dreamed I'd be pulling my kid from school for a few days. I don't do it lightly. I do it knowing it's what he needs right now.
So today I give you this, something that I did which brought me back down to reality and garnered more time in the shower, all be it with at two year old pointing at my ass going, "Jiggly mama, jiggly mama! More jiggly!"
I had this great idea I'll share with you. I thought of using all those micro shampoo and conditioner bottles from trips we took ages ago, like so long ago we're talking pre-kids. That means some of these things have been hitching a ride in my bathroom for years. Years people, years.
Which means I packed their sorry asses from North Dakota and moved them down here.
I don't know if they're even any good at this point but damn-it, I'm cheap. We had them and I was going to use them.
Can anyone see the difference between the two bottles down there?
You can??? Good. Then next time you can get in the shower with me and read it so I don't put lotion in my hair again.
And yeah, I just had a really bad visual of all of us in the shower trying to figure out what all those damn little bottles say.
You're welcome for that. Now somebody pass the beach, I need to pour it in my eyes.
Note: I feel I should thank Grace for the way in which I wrote the title. She talked like that in her last post and for some reason it's been stuck in my head. I am also thanking Flannery for the Silence of the Lambs reference. I believe in giving credit where credit's due, so thank you both.
But at least it was body lotion from London... how exotic!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry Alex is going through such a rough time right now. Hopefully the weekend will help to put his mind at ease and ready him for a return to school.
P.S. I got your pics loaded in that post on SPDBN. You're good to go!
I hope so, his teacher comes back this weekend so I'm hoping (please, please, please) that puts things to rights.
DeleteDo I need to do anything else for the post? Let me know! And thanks--muwwah.
You should be good to go, but I'll double-check with Alysia to be sure! And muwwah back for posting!
DeleteEeeeek, I'm so excited!!!
DeleteNext week will be better, I'm sure of it!!
ReplyDeleteAnd don't feel bad about the lotion. I've been so sleepy that I've dumped shower gel in my hair. I can't even claim that it looks like the shampoo bottle, I'm just that lame.
Haha!!! I hope next week is better. I'd like to say it can't get any worse but we all know how that goes.....
Deletehow many times did you have to wash your hair to get thick skin lotion all out of it?
ReplyDeleteWe had guests once at our lake house in the summer. In the guest bath we had shower gel to wash your body and shampoo and conditioner.
The man said at dinner that he loved the smell of the shampoo but it didn't really lather all that well. I said really? What does the shampoo smell like? He told me and I knew it was the body wash. When I told him this, his wife laughed so hard her sip of drink she had just taken flew across the table like a movie spit take. Oh we had a good laugh. Joe just said, well I'm clean and I smell divine if I do say so myself!
Once but I went for round two just for kicks!
DeleteHaha!! I bet he smelled like Bath and Body Works or something!!!
Yeah I get the "You have chubby legs mommy" and "Your body jiggles mommy" from the kids when they see me in the shower. Nice Thanks. I hope your kids point crap like that out to you one of these days.
ReplyDeleteI think I used hand sanitizer on my hair once, caused no damage and washed out easily but ya know.........don't know how I did that one.
I can't imagine how heartsick you must be over this. Does your son have a full time para? If not, I wonder if getting a full time para would help? If so...how well does he (you) like the para? Could you (and your son)interview new paras?
Well at least your hair was germ free!
DeletePart-time para they upped to almost full time. I think most of this stems from his teacher being out of town. And he's trying to make friends and it's blowing up in his face. Sigh.
That is the Greatest Title Ever!!!
ReplyDeleteI had to go back and re-read my post. I DID talk like that. It's awesome that I really am "inspiring" others in the bloggysphere.
You need to stop talking about all us mommy bloggers getting into the shower together or you're gonna get the daddy bloggers all hot and bothered. Ha!! One time, I was in the shower, shaved one leg, and completely forgot to shave the other. How's THAT for sexy, huh?
I know the difficulties you and Alex are having. My Ryan has had similar issues, as you know. It's incredibly upsetting, and it's bullshit. Try taking a hot shower, it should help you to relax. Oh, wait. . . .
Hehe, you did inspire me to write that. I blame you! ;)
DeleteI've done that one leg shave thing too!
And yeah, that visual is back......
I come in the shower with you and do some videoing. That jiggly could be a youtube hit.
ReplyDeleteHaha!!! Except the whole burning out your retina's with my ass that's not seen the light of day since I was a baby. There's that.....
DeleteLotion in the hair. . . fantastic! More jiggly, Lizbeth, more jiggly!
ReplyDeleteNow I've got that song, Jiggle It, Just a Little Bit, in my head.
DeleteGrowth spurt? Tags in clothes? New smells? It could be anything - even our stress can transfer to our kids, you know.
ReplyDeleteI kinda feel like you do. I never thought I'd have to take T out of school because his tutors could not make it for the day but now it doesn't phase me. I don't know quite what to make of that kind of acceptance and understanding.
You didn't actually say the lotion didn't work on your hair and hey, I could use all the help I can get - I might just try it... on purpose, but do I get to go to London to buy it first? ;)
I was wondering if he was picking up on my stress. But I think this is all school and his teacher being gone. We'll find out soon enough.
DeleteI don't have a clue where that stuff came from. It smelled nice though.....
Well...could it work like a super duper deep condition? How does your hair look now that it's dry? If it looks amazing, you may just be on to something.
ReplyDeleteBut here's hoping Alex feels better soon!
As for silence of the lambs - that scene freaks me out. when the hubs wants to scare me, he repeats that line over and over again. :(
No, it just made my hair all greasy. I had a fleeting thought it would be good for hair lice, nothing for them to hold on to....then I turned up the hot water!!!
DeleteLoved the title Lizbeth,
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that Alex has been having a rough time. I would do the same, if he's having a negative experience at school without his usual teacher then he's not learning anything anyway. I have and would do the same for Oatie.... it's the damage you can't see, but you get that gut feeling that take them out of school for a few days or whatever is best...
I loved it the jiggly bits that was classic x lol!
From living on the Outskirts of London (the products), you're lucky your hair didn't fall out,.... no I'm just kidding!
Love

Oh noooo, now I'm scared for residual side effects!!!! I don't like pulling him out of school but I know it was best for him. He just needed some time to unwind and not puke every morning. That's just not right. He seems to be doing better so we'll see what Monday brings.
Deletexo
Who knows, Lizbeth--maybe the difference between conditioner and lotion is only a couple of ingredients, so maybe you discovered something AWESOME.
ReplyDeleteHopefully Alex will be alright next week. Maybe it's the trying to make friends thing: we think our kids are indifferent to other kids, but they put those rotten things other kids say IN THE VAULT.
Substitutes are always a recipe for havoc. We've also had a teacher out for a week, and it's not been pretty. Couple that with I'm about one idiot away from going all Linda Blair on someone lately, and it's a total recipe for disaster. I feel you, I really do. Honestly, I'm so thankful we have ABA therapy. I'm not afraid to say to the therapist, "Here. YOU try."
ReplyDeleteMy daughter confirmed for me that my tummy was like jelly years ago...I havedonenothing to rectify that. Whip upa batch of jello and everyone can watch it jiggle!
ReplyDeleteI really hope that next week is better for Alex. Are you sure that you didn't "deep condition" his hiar and that's what the real problem is?? :)
ReplyDeleteThat body lotion would probably make my bushy dry hair look fab, you could be onto something :)
ReplyDeleteHope things work out for Alex soon, some other friends are having similar problems xx
fantastic
ReplyDeletesending a big hug to darling alex
**ugh** I'm sorry you guys are going through this at school... But I hear you 100%. I've had to pull our little guy out of school while we get lawyered up and see if we can't fix our current situation.
ReplyDeleteGood luck and hugs to you both.
Also, please pass the bleach.
Don't think I've put body lotion in my hair but I have used it instead of shower gel and wondered why it wasn't lathering!
DeleteI do hope the school situation eases off. Our one still persists and has also upped a notch :-( So horrible isn't it? And I've had a couple of attempted school refusals this week. I didn't give in but I can see myself doing so!!
xx Jazzy
Molton Brown though, Molton Brown....even in the wrong place it smells and feels delicious. I hope things get better for Alex soon. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteWell....at least your hair is nice and conditioned now. I've but shower gel in my hair more than a few times. Talk about dry and nasty, though I guess that is better than greasy.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking about you with this whole school thing. Is his teacher back in town yet?
Is it bad that it took me a few glances to see the difference?
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm so sorry about the school situation. Sending you some hugs and I truly hope things will improve for everyone. xo
